Practical Motorhome Motorhome Of The Year 2020

Practical Motorhome’s Motorhome Of The Year Awards 2020

Wednesday 18th of September saw the annual “Motorhome of the Year Awards 2020” by Practical Motorhome.

The venue was held at Hampton Manor a stunning Grade II listed building built-in 1855, by Sir Frederick Peel son of former Prime Minister, Sir Robert Peel who also owned the 45 acres of Victorian walled gardens and woodlands on the estate before his passing (Fun Fact: As Home Secretary, he also created the Metropolitan Police in 1829, leading to the nicknames of ‘bobby’ and ‘peeler’ for London’s police officers.).

Hampton Manor was predominantly used as a residential home for adults with learning difficulties before being sold to new owners that have converted it into a beautiful hotel and Michelin-starred restaurant (called Peels, named after the aforementioned). Hampton Manor is 3 miles from Birmingham Airport and 4 miles from the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) Birmingham and is definitely a place we would recommend visiting.

The food was exquisite, and you can see what was on the menu below:

Main Course

Smoked Salmon, Crème Fraîche in a Sesame Seed Cone
Cheddar Cheese on a Burnt Onion Cracker
DuckCroquette with an Orange Gel ontop

Main Course
Chicken, Leek, Cep Mushroom, Puff Pastry
Celeriac Wellington, Leek, Cep Mushroom (vegetarian dish)

Pear Tarte Tatin, Caramel Ice Cream and Pecan Tuile

The Spee’Wah Crooked Mick Viognier, Murray Darling (white wine), Gran Cerdo, Gonzalo Rioja (red wine)

The evening was ecstatic with key figures from around the industry with a mixture of manufacturers, dealers and sponsors all coming from around the UK to be at this amazing award ceremony. The Southdowns Motorhome Centre team (Andrew Ayling and David Williams) attended the evening to not only to show support for our industry but to also accept an award (more on that in a minute!), the conversation flowed with guests (as did the wine!) and it was good to see familiar faces and meet new ones, we would like to thank MB&G Direct for sponsoring the event.
